Hale Farms
Claude Hale first started Hale Farms in the early 1800's. Later the farm was taken over by Claude's son Bill along with wife Jane and their three children, Marc, Penny and Lora. The first Shorthorn bull was broug to the farm for commercial use in 1936 and purebred cows and calves were purchased in 1943. At one time the herd consisted of more than 120 brood cows but a PBB contamination in the late 1970's led to a dispersal. The herd has since been rebuilt and today the farm in Charlotte, MI maintains approximately 50 cows. Penny Vance, Bill's daughter, along with her husband Perry and sons Caleb and Seth currently operate the farm, making it a fourth generation operation. Everyone at Hale Farms is proudest of the work they have done with junior exhibitors. They have always worked to put juniors first and to build the same love for the Shorthorn breed that runs deep at Hale Farms.

Sisung Farms
Don Sisung always had a passion for agriculture, growing up on a dairy farm in southeastern MI. As he grew older he decided to partner with his father and in 1972 they relocated the farm to where it is today in St. Johns, MI. Over the years Sisung Farms has evolved into a diversified livestock and cash crop operation, which is currently owned and operated by Don and his wife Jane along with their three daughters Christine, Theresa and Brenda. In the past, the farm consisted of cash crops, a feedlot and a 150 sow farrow to finish operation, which was then transitioned to a feeder to finish facility before exiting the hog business in the early 2000’s. Today, there are approximately 900 acres of corn, soybeans and wheat, a small beef and dairy feedlot and a few sows have made their way back to the farm to raise show pigs. What started in 2002 with a single Shorthorn steer has grown immensely and provided many amazing opportunities for Christine, Theresa and Brenda. Sisung Farms has gained a passion for the Shorthorn industry and all the people involved in it. The Sisung family could not have asked for better mentors and partners than our long-time family friends at Hale Farms. We truly believe in Two Families, One Dream!
